2021 Junior Medal Count - PLFL

Port Lincoln Football League has named its junior best and fairest recipients for 2021 with Marble Range, Boston and Mallee Park players taking the top honours.

The league live streamed the under 13, under 15 and under 17 medal counts on Thursday evening with clubs invited to stream from their clubrooms.

The under 17 count saw Marble Range’s Latrell Sumner win a close count by one vote to take best and fairest honours with 19 votes ahead of Lincoln South’s Connor Madden, while teammate Jay Mullins finished third with 16.

It was a standout year for Sumner as he also won the under 17 Rising Star, as well as finishing as leading goalkicker with 34 goals.

Sumner will look to finish his season with an under 17 premiership with Marble Range to be in action against Wayback on Saturday in the second semi final, while Lincoln South face Boston in the first semi final on Sunday.

In the under 15 count Boston midfielder Toby Rawles finished on top with 21 votes ahead of Mallee Park’s Tristan Edwards on 19.

Boston also claimed leading goalkicker honours as Brad Jacob finished the minor rounds with 28 goals and Wayback’s Hayden Peak was named Rising Star.

Boston will play in the second semi final on Saturday against Marble Range and on Sunday Wayback face Lincoln South in the first semi final.

Finally in the under 13s, dynamic Mallee Park midfielder Zackariah Young winning the best and fairest with 25 votes, four clear of runners up Harvey Pearce of Marble Range and Dusty Symonds of Wayback.

Boston’s Kaden Durdin was named Rising Star and Marble Range’s Oliver Wilkins was leading goalkicker with 18.

The Rangers under 13s also celebrated their coach Matt Pertzel being named Junior Coach of the Year.

Runners up Pearce and Symonds will be in action on Saturday as Marble Range and Wayback contest the second semi final, while Young will be in action on Sunday as Mallee Park take on Boston in the first semi final.
