The Port Lincoln Football League Umpires Association is celebrating 50 years and is hoping to see more people ensure its future.
The association is celebrating its milestone with a dinner at the Grand Tasman Hotel on August 22 at 7.30pm which will see past and present umpires come together to share some stories and have fun.
The event will include speeches from life members.
Association president Brett Channon said it was a special milestone for the umpires of Port Lincoln.
“It is a big deal because we’re the seventh club of the Port Lincoln Football League that doesn’t get the same sort of exposure as the other clubs,” he said.
Mr Channon said the association had seen a drop in numbers in recent years and was hoping for younger people to come on board to eventually take over from the older generation.
“We’ve got an ageing panel and have got ageing umpires who have done it for a long time,” he said.
“We’re always willing to try and train people when necessary.”
