The Port Lincoln Football League is seeking nominations for Coaches for the Lincoln City and Lincoln Districts Norwood Cup teams. Nominations or questions are to be submitted in writing via the below form, or to info@plfl.com.au
The Norwood Cup
This is a regional carnival involving the four football leagues on the Eyre Peninsula and is played annually on the Sunday of the long weekend in June.
The League enters two teams in these championships, namely Lincoln City and Lincoln Districts.
Ethos
Included in the ethos of the League regarding representative football are:
- Support the pathways available to the younger players in our League and encourage as much participation as possible.
- Further developing and rewarding players in the League with exposure to a higher level of football and provide intrinsic rewards that accompanies playing at representative levels.
- Maintaining enthusiasm for, and appreciation of, the value of Interleague Football
- Increase the interaction between the clubs in the League.
Role of the Coach
The role of both coaches includes:
- Appointing the Assistant Coach, the Manager, and the Runner
- Overseeing their Selection Panel which will be comprised of the coach as chair and a selector provided by each of the three clubs to be represented, namely:
Lincoln City: Lincoln South, Tasman Imperials, and Wayback Football Clubs.
Lincoln Districts: Boston, Mallee Park, and Marble Range Football Clubs.
- Having a deliberative and a casting vote at selection meetings.
- Enlisting their Selection Panel in the appointments of additional team officials.
- Collaborating with their Selection Panel and the Operations Manager in establishing a program of preparation for the carnival.
- Liaising with the coaches of the three clubs to be represented.
- Conducting selection/training sessions and promoting a safe and enjoyable playing environment.
Assistance on the development of the players on an individual basis.
- Providing a post carnival report to the Junior Advisory Committee.
- Being responsible for reporting any indiscretions to the Operations Manager.
Desired Skills
To be most effective both coaches should offer a broad range of skills, including:
- Proven leadership skills with experience at coaching at senior level.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking.
- High level of communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Coaching accreditation.
- Positive conflict management skills.
- A working knowledge and appreciation of the League Interleague Committee structures and philosophies.
Tenure
The tenure for both coaches is from early April 2025 to the end of June 2026 (two years)
